Pioneer Woman Fried Apples
Y'all know I love me some good ol' fashioned apple fritters! And this recipe I found on the internet is nothing short of amazing.
Apple Fritters
The first thing you need to do is gather all of your ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 cups of diced apples
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Once you've got everything you need, it's time to get cookin'!
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vegetable oil.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until it forms a thick batter.
- Add the diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to the batter and stir until well combined.
- Heat a large pot of oil over medium heat until it reaches 375°F.
- Using a small cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Now onto these swirled candy apples! Y'all, I saw these on the internet and I knew I had to try 'em out. They're the perfect Halloween treat, and they're super simple to make.
Swirled Candy Apples
Here's what you'll need:
- 6 Granny Smith apples
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon blue food coloring
Follow these easy steps:
- Wash and dry the apples and remove the stems. Insert a popsicle stick or wooden skewer into the center of each apple.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved.
- Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture come to a boil. Cook until the mixture reaches 302°F on a candy thermometer.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the red and blue food coloring to create a purple color.
- Hold the apples by the sticks and dip them into the candy mixture, swirling them around to create a marbled effect.
- Place the apples on a sheet of parchment paper to cool and harden.
- Enjoy these spooktacular treats!
