Ree's Beef Stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff by Ree (The Pioneer Woman)

This recipe comes straight from the kitchen of the Pioneer Woman herself, Ree Drummond. The secret to her beef stroganoff is using sirloin steak instead of ground beef or stew meat. The result is tender and flavorful beef that pairs perfectly with the rich sour cream sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin steak, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Egg noodles, cooked

Directions:

  1. Season the sliced sirloin steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until browned on both sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet. Add the diced onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1/4 cup of water. Add to the skillet and whisk until combined.
  6. Bring the sauce back to a boil and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the sour cream.
  8. Add the cooked steak back to the skillet and toss with the sauce.
  9. Serve over egg noodles.

Snappy Stroganoff

Snappy Stroganoff

This recipe from Food Network is called "snappy stroganoff" for its quick and easy preparation. The use of condensed cream of mushroom soup and sour cream makes for a creamy and satisfying sauce. Plus, it only takes 30 minutes from start to finish!
